The Christmas party season is almost here and it’s time to start thinking about festive dressing and how to nail your party outfit. If you live somewhere cold (like me) you know that dressing for parties without freezing can be a bit of a challenge and if you want to avoid the last minute ‘what to wear’ panic that I have found myself in many times, then I hope you’ll find this post helpful.
When it comes to parties, my natural choice is always a dress and a pair of high heels. I tend to pick the dress I want to wear and then choose accessories to go with it. This year, I’ve decided to try something different – start with the shoes and then build my outfit around them. I was after a pair of statement but elegant heels and when I saw these navy glitter court shoes, I instantly fell in love with them. They are the type of footwear that will take your party outfit to the next level. I love the combination of a classic timeless style and a festive glitter finish. The shoes were kindly gifted to me by Dune London and I wanted to share them with you, as they are gorgeous and can make such a difference to any outfit. If you love a bit of sparkle, but don’t want to coat yourself in sequins, going for glitter heeled shoes and a simple dress is a great option.
The dress I’m wearing is a recent find from Zara which is very party appropriate in a soft sateen fabric with open back and cute bell sleeves. It’s a nice alternative to the LBD and the midnight blue colour is a great match for the shoes. A big festive dressing dilemma for me every year is tights or bare legs. And as much as I like the look of bare legs, wearing a dress with no tights is not an option for me in winter temperatures, so I have reluctantly added a pair of sheer tights to this outfit.
If you’re venturing outside and want to be glam and warm at the same time, faux fur is your best friend. I really like this plush coat from Dorothy Perkins; it’s super soft and snuggly and it would be a great addition to any party outfit. My bag is a pretty well-known one, it’s the Rebecca Minkoff 5-zip crossbody bag, but I’ve detached the long strap to use it as a clutch. It’s small enough for a night out, but roomy enough for all of my beauty party essentials and it’s by far my favourite evening bag.
