I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of classic espadrilles since last summer, something like the Chanel ones but with a smaller price tag, because as much as I like them, I’m not sure that espadrilles are the kind of shoes I want to splurge on. I haven’t found anything yet that fits well and feels comfortable. I’ve lost count of how many pairs of espadrilles I’ve tried on since last year, from high street to high end brands. I even went into Gucci when I was in Rome last summer thinking that maybe if I invested a bit more in a good pair they would fit better, but I left the store empty-handed, because they were just not right for me. I think I was in between sizes 37.5 and 38! Long story short, I’ve given up hope now. Maybe I do need to try on those Chanel espadrilles after all… maybe next year.
For this summer, I’ve found a different type of espadrilles and I couldn’t be happier with them. They are the Tall Wedges from Soludos which I discovered recently on Revolve. The colour I went for is Nutmeg and I could only find it on Revolve, but there are other colours on the Soludos website, so you should definitely check out both to see the full range they have. I’m very tempted to get another pair in a different colour. They are just so comfortable and easy to walk in. I love the height of the wedge sole; it’s about 3.5” (9cm) which doesn’t feel high at all because of the platform. Plus, the ankle ties give really good support, so overall a great pair of everyday summer shoes!
Do you think the Chanel espadrilles are worth the splurge? If you own a pair, I’d love to know your thoughts on them!
