One thing I don’t like about winter, aside from being cold all the time, is having dehydrated skin. You know that feeling of uncomfortable tight skin, chapped lips, cakey looking foundation; I used to have these problems every winter, so this year I decided to be extra careful with my skincare and bodycare and get the right products that will keep my skin baby-soft all winter long. Definitely easier said than done, but after a few months of trying out samples and a couple of disappointing purchases, I’m finally completely satisfied with the products I’m using and I have no more issues with dehydrated skin. So today, I wanted to share these products with you, as they have been my winter skin saviours and definitely deserve a shout-out.
In terms of skincare, there is one product that has been a game changer for me and it’s the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Rich Day Cream. I’ve known about this moisturiser for years and I don’t know why I waited for so long to buy it. I usually go for light formulas for combination skin, but they just don’t work for me in the colder months. This cream comes in a Light version, but I knew my skin needed serious hydration, so I went for the Rich formula and I’m so pleased with it. It is actually quite light and easily absorbed, it’s not greasy at all and it’s a great base for makeup. It contains Vichy Thermal Spa Water which makes it soothing and suitable for sensitive skin. It also smells incredible and is not as expensive as some other French skincare products. It has made such a difference to my skin and I can’t recommend it enough.
Bodycare-wise, I recently started using the Clarins Moisture-Rich Body Lotion. I’m a big fan of Clarins in general and I’ve tried a lot of their products, but this is hands down one of the best. It has nice milky texture that absorbs really quickly; it leaves my skin feeling silky soft and smells lovely. It contains Shea Butter which is one of my favourite ingredients in body products. It is on the pricey side, but a little goes a long way with this one, so a bottle of 200ml should last me a few months.
On my lips I’ve been using the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil for the past couple of weeks and it’s helped my dry lips tremendously. The formula is similar to a lip gloss in the sense that it has a shiny finish which stays on for a couple of hours unlike a lip balm which sinks in immediately. It is infused with plant oils, so it is very nourishing and leaves my lips softer for longer than other lip products I’ve used. I have it in the shade Honey which is completely clear, but it also comes in Red Berry and Raspberry which I believe are slightly tinted (correct me if I’m wrong). I really like the sweet taste it has and the soft sponge-tip applicator is very easy to use, so it pretty much ticks all the boxes. I find it just a little bit sticky, but that doesn’t bother me personally.
A hand cream is a must-have for me all year round, but in the winter months I’m quite picky because I need something that is extra nourishing, but at the same time I don’t like anything that feels sticky or greasy. I’m currently using the Decléor Hand Cream which I got as a part of a gift set just before Christmas. This is the first time I’ve tried Decléor and I’m really impressed with this hand cream. It is exactly what I would expect from a high quality hand cream and there’s something about its scent that I’m obsessed with. It contains some amazing ingredients including Shea Butter and Magnolia essential oil and I don’t think this product is getting enough hype. If you love a luxury hand cream, definitely try this one.
The last product that I’ve been loving this winter is the Nuxe Dry Oil Huile Prodigieuse. This is a very well-known multi-purpose product made of six precious oils that you can use on your face, body and hair. I’ve been using it mainly on the ends of my hair after washing it to keep it smooth, shiny and frizz-free and it works great for that. It has a wonderful floral fragrance, which I love, and there are so many other ways you can use this oil that I can write a whole blog post about it. I used to have different oils for my face, body and hair, but this has now replaced them all…I just love a good multi-use product!
I hope you found this post useful! Let me know if you have any questions about these products and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
