Getting Ready For Spring

I love this time of year – going into spring always feels like a fresh start and the perfect time to sort out your wardrobe, your home and your life! Today I wanted to share five things that I’ve been doing and that you can do too to get yourself ready and excited for spring.

Clear out your wardrobe

It’s time to pack away your winter clothes and make space for some new spring pieces. Get rid of anything you no longer need; whether you choose to donate, recycle or sell, you will feel so much better once you’ve de-cluttered your wardrobe. I’ve done this with mine already and now I’m in the process of adding a few new items. Speaking of new, I have to mention these white western boots that I got from River Island last week. You know those fabulous Isabel Marant and Fendi boots that cost a fortune? These River Island ones are the best dupe I’ve seen and amazing quality for the price.

Take care of your body

As the weather starts warming up, I always get motivated to detox and start exercising more regularly. If going to the gym is not your thing, just spend 30 min a day exercising at home. I’ve been doing that using some resistance bands and ankle weights and it honestly makes a huge difference in the way I feel and look. I’ve had a few stressful months, so I also try to include some yoga and meditation in my routine to relieve stress. YouTube is great for that if you want to do it at home. I’m sure you all know the impact that your diet has on your body, and I’m not into any strict diets, but I’m making an effort to eat more fruit and vegetables and less processed food. If you’re struggling with this, my top tip for you would be to get yourself a NutriBullet. I bought mine half a year ago and it’s changed my life. Last but not least, I like having a healthy, sun-kissed tan, so this season I really want to try the Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk which I’ve heard great things about. I also want to thank Bondi Sands for featuring Girl of Today in their Beauty Bloggers to Watch Out For list. You can see the full list here.

Update your skincare routine

After de-cluttering my wardrobe, I like to do the same with my makeup and skincare cabinet. I’ve gotten rid of some old products and I’m trying out a few new ones including the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads which are great for exfoliating and The Ordinary Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil for extra hydration and radiance. One of the most important steps in my skincare routine, especially going into spring/summer, is applying sunscreen. I’m currently using The Ordinary Mineral UV Filters SPF 30 but will soon switch to SPF 50. Lastly, I find that taking certain food supplements can have a positive impact on my skin. One I would recommend is the Nue Co Skin Food + Prebiotic if you want to give your skin an extra boost of vitamins and antioxidants, and the prebiotic in it is good for your gut health.

Get a manicure/pedicure

It’s always nice to treat yourself to a spa day and get your nails done and ready for the new season. Or if you’re like me and have been getting regular gel manicures throughout the winter months, now could be a good time to give your nails a break for a few weeks, so they can recover and regain their strength. Gel manicures have made my nails noticeably weaker, plus I have dry nails and cuticles in general, so all I will be using for the next few weeks are the CND Rescue Daily Keratin Treatment and the CND Solar Oil Conditioner.

Start planning your meals

I’m personally not very good at this, but it’s something that I’m working on, because I know it will make my life so much easier (and healthier) if I do some more meal prep on Sundays and less takeaway throughout the week. I have the Getting Stuff Done planner, which I’m now trying to use consistently to help me plan and organise my life and especially my meals. If you don’t know what this planner is, definitely check it out on the CGD website and if you’re already using something similar, I would love to know what it is!
