During my recent trip to Asia, I kept my skincare and make-up to a minimum, first because I didn’t have time for a long beauty routine, and second because it was too hot and I didn’t want to wear a lot of products on my face. I thought I’d share the few products that I used and loved the most and would be happy to take with me again on my next holiday. So here is my list of travel beauty heroes.
Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream – I don’t go anywhere without a hand cream and I like everything about this one, from the fresh scent, to the light texture, to the compact size which makes it great for travelling. It absorbs quickly and leaves the skin really soft and moisturised.
Clarins Multi-Protection Day Screen – This claims to protect your skin from UV rays, free radicals and pollution. I am not sure about the last two, but it definitely protects well from sun damage. I spent two weeks at 30 degrees C and my face did not burn or even get red. My face is more sensitive to sun than the rest of my body, so I was very happy with this sun screen. I also like that the texture is light and non-greasy, and it doesn’t affect the appearance of make up on top.
Caudalie Beauty Elixir – Such a cult product that everyone seems to love. It has a strong herbal minty scent which I personally like, but it might not be to everyone’s taste. It feels very cooling and refreshing on the skin and it does give a bit of glow. It is definitely a good one to have on the go, especially if you are flying and your skin is feeling dull and dry.
Avene Redness Relief Moisturising Protective Emulsion SPF 20 – This is a very light and non-irritating moisturiser and I like that it has SPF 20. I enjoyed using it every morning during my holiday, but I am not convinced that it helps with redness relief. I used the emulsion for normal to combination skin, but there is also a cream for dry to very dry skin.
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Lip Balm – This is an amazing lip balm, one of the best I have ever used and I have used so many! I went through a period of really dry lips this past winter and this lip balm completely solved the problem. It is not greasy at all and you don’t have to reapply it every half an hour, like some other lip balms. I just wish it had some SPF in it.
Urban Decay Naked Flushed – Hands down, one of my favourite palettes ever. It is a great size to take with you on your travels, all three products are well pigmented, very complementary and a little goes a long way. The shade that I have is Strip and both the bronzer and the blush are easy to blend and look very natural. I use the highlighter only in the evening as I find it quite shimmery, but if you apply a tiny amount, you can use it during the day. It comes in three more shades and I recommend you go to a counter to get matched to the right one.
I would love to know what your travel beauty essentials are! Let me know in the comments below.
